“Waimea River is a natural and cultural treasure, not a plantation plumbing system,” Earthjustice attorney Isaac Moriwake said.

“The diverters prefer to keep their spigot running full blast, but in the 21st century, it’s time we start taking care of the river for everyone, including future generations.”

Photo: An example of "throw-away" water.  Millions of gallons of Waimea River waters are dumped needlessly by a private group called Kekaha Agriculture Association.  This waste adversely affects the Waimea River bed, river mouth and estuarial areas, impacting the watershed ecosystem and its people.
